COMING INTO FOCUS
The harsh winter has passed, and a couple things come into focus. The extended silence strongly reinforced an emerging, new way of seeing the world. The bias from the bottom has resonated with me for some time now, and this experience has penetrated very deeply to expand that intellectual realization into a much stronger and deeper commitment to seeing life from the viewpoint of the powerless, as well as the desire to live among them in whatever way God ultimately calls me.
Also, despite how well things went in the fall, I still doubted whether I could sustain it in the broader community. This encompasses any encounter that purports to morph who I am into what's expected to achieve inclusion or success. I believe God has something else in mind for me: a life where I'm not beholding to the personality or behavior society imposes on folks who wish to be successful, precisely because I no longer care to partake in society’s brand of success. I desire something different now and in such desire am free.
